Building and Contents Insurance: Learn the Two General Types of Home Insurance
By: Gill Abigail
Building and Contents Insurance is very important for
homeowners; even many of them are ignoring it. Each person will need one of two general types of house insurance, which described as
Building and Contents Insurance, while some people possibly need both. The needs of homeowners and tenants are diverse on
taking insurance policy, that's why I could say that insurance for house are very various.
Protecting the actual structure of a house will need an insurance, which called as Building insurance only instead of
Building and Contents Insurance. It will cover ‘fixture and fittings' such as bathrooms, restroom installations, light fittings, and kitchen units. It will also protect the bricks and mortar of a house. Greenhouse owners are also got special treatments for the protection of gates, driveway, and exterior garden walls and fences. But you should
ask these covering at the first place since not all insurance companies offer the same policies.
Be careful if you renovate the house, the destruction made by amateur house improvements has the possibility of not well-covered.
For home tenants,
the insurance should only cover the house's contents, which called Contents Insurance. Unlike Building and Contents Insurance, the building should be homeowners' responsibility, not you. Do you have priceless belongings, such as CDs and books? Now, you can insure them on Content Insurance as well. It also covers clothes, kitchenware, and goods. Even you have insured all your
priceless belongings, but if broken items below certain amount, you can't get the compensation as well.
You need to make sure about the certain amount with insurance company.
Generally, the insurance will compensate the destruction
against natural disasters, vandalism, and theft. However if you found out there are small features of your house broken, you can also
ask the insurance to fix them if you have covered them on insurance. These things are glass and pipes, not internal glass in doors.
How about if you live with another people or relatives within the same building? You can take Joint Building and Contents Insurance from the exact
same insurance company. The premiums of Building and Contents Insurance can be easily reduced by securing your house. It means you can put safety alarms, security lights, and upgrading door locks.
